Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced Koa, Salesforce’s first CRM reasoning model, during a joint appearance at Salesforce Dreamforce. Built by post-training NVIDIA’s open Nemotron 3 Super foundation model on a synthetic dataset generated from Salesforce’s historical enterprise CRM deployments, the model aims to power agentic workflows across enterprise operations.

Because Nemotron 3 Super uses an open architecture, Salesforce fine-tuned and hosted Koa entirely within its own infrastructure, ensuring no customer data was utilized during training or inference. In addition to powering Koa, Salesforce is deploying NVIDIA technology across sales, marketing, and service operations, while NVIDIA is actively piloting Salesforce’s Agentforce platform for customer support workflows.

Addressing AI safety concerns during the keynote, Huang framed safety as an engineering problem that must be developed alongside rapid product innovation. He rejected the premise that companies must choose between speed and safety, advising developers to pause releases only if they lack confidence in system stability or control.

Why it matters

  • Demonstrates enterprise preference for fine-tuning open foundation models on private infrastructure to avoid customer data leakage.

  • Validates the shift toward agentic AI workflows in major CRM platforms like Salesforce.

  • Highlights growing strategic integration between hardware/model vendors (NVIDIA) and enterprise SaaS providers.
