Legal technology startup Harvey announced on Wednesday that it has raised $550 million in a new funding round at a $15.5 billion valuation. The round was co-led by Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners. This investment comes just months after Harvey secured a $200 million round at an $11 billion valuation in March and an $8 billion valuation in December, bringing its total raised capital to over $1.55 billion.
The capital influx follows the recent release of Harvey’s first in-house model, Harvey Tenet. Built on top of the open-weight model Kimi K3 and post-trained with specialized legal data alongside inference provider Fireworks, the tool aims to provide specialized domain capabilities. Harvey is also actively encouraging client organizations to adopt and post-train their own open-weight models internally.
Harvey’s rapid valuation growth reflects strong investor demand for domain-specific enterprise AI platforms. Furthermore, the company’s focus on fine-tuning open-weight architectures demonstrates how specialized industries can adopt AI tools without depending entirely on proprietary frontier models from providers like OpenAI or Anthropic.
Why it matters
Proves high VC appetite for enterprise vertical AI platforms achieving rapid revenue expansion and market adoption.
Demonstrates a viable enterprise playbook for leveraging open-weight models over proprietary frontier API dependencies.
Signals growing maturity in specialized post-training and inference workflows for regulated professional sectors.
