Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company (AIUC) has raised a $40 million Series A led by Ribbit Capital, with participation from First Harmonic, bringing its total funding to $55 million. Founded by early Anthropic employee Rune Kvist and former METR COO Rajiv Dattani, the startup provides a third-party audit and certification layer for enterprise AI agents. Existing customers include Cursor, Lovable, Harvey, and ElevenLabs.

To address safety and control concerns surrounding agent deployments, AIUC developed the AIUC-1 standard in consultation with a consortium of roughly 250 enterprise security leaders. The platform evaluates agents across approximately 5,000 test scenarios covering jailbreaks, hallucinations, and data leaks, producing detailed compliance reports verified by human auditors.

AIUC’s launch comes amid heightened industry concern over agent behavior and calls from AI leaders for independent evaluation. By applying established cybersecurity audit frameworks to agentic workflows, the company aims to give risk-sensitive enterprises like banks and hospitals the guarantees required to deploy autonomous AI systems.

Why it matters

  • Provides a standardized testing framework (AIUC-1) to solve enterprise compliance and security blockers for agent deployment.

  • Validates the growing market for third-party AI safety and auditing tools as autonomous agents enter production.

  • Helps founders de-risk agentic products through automated red-teaming against jailbreaks and data leaks.
