Anthropic announced Enterprise Frontier Safeguards (EFS), a new security architecture designed to resolve the tradeoff between strict zero-data-retention mandates and active misuse monitoring. Under EFS, customer-controlled cloud infrastructure stores prompt logs, custody keys, and human review data, while Anthropic maintains the detection logic.
Set for a broad rollout later this fall on a request basis, EFS aims to help regulated organizations deploy Claude models without transmitting retention logs to vendor servers. In the interim, eligible enterprise customers can operate Claude Fable 5 and 5.1 under standard zero-data-retention agreements.
Anthropic emphasized that its data retention policies exist purely for misuse detection rather than training models on enterprise customer inputs. The architecture provides a framework for security teams needing cross-session monitoring alongside strict privacy controls.
